01 — Attention
Notice before you frame
A street worth thirty seconds before the camera comes out.
It's possible to visit a place almost entirely through a viewfinder — checking the shot, moving to the next one — and leave with hundreds of photos and almost no memory of being there. Looking without immediately reaching for a device changes what actually gets encoded.
A short habit helps: before any photo, thirty seconds of just watching. What sound is present. What the light is doing. What's happening at the edges of the frame you'd otherwise crop out.
